"Science without humanity, commerce without morality and education without character is useless and dangerous" says Sri Satya Sai Baba in his Essential Features of Indian Education, pointing out the co-existing relation of education and character. In short, from the Indian point of view, profound education means perfection in character, because character is deeply connected to education.

This power never comes to an individual as birth right or through inheritance, but through a constant touch with his social inmates through time bond education and tireless follow-up.
The fact that, chanakya, the greatest diplomat, the one and only type our nation has ever produced, gave inspiration to the parents, who denied the chance of lending education to their own wards, is more than a proof to the indispensable influence of education in molding a man into a useful citizen.

As a man undergoes natural changes in his physique, he must ensure that there is simultaneously mental development for which he needs morally stimulating faculties. Thus the foundation of a systematic value based and progressive education is laid for him.
It is the imperial power of knowledge that basically distinguishes a person from other mortals of the world. The same also helps him to bring the world under his unquestionable custody.

The education policies repeatedly emphasize the need for promoting cultural values in the field of education, as the necessity of the hour, but the expected high goal has not been obtained due to the neglect of the same in its true spirit.
However, it requires a special note that the blind imitation of the occidental way of life has been much reflected as a grave negligence of the golden Indian traditions. Needless to say, it caused a serious degeneration of our precious culture values - a system which lead to the philosophical and immaterial end of life.
The young generation is totally neglecting the religious and moral values of the past and has given it a name - generation gap, that there is no link between the past and the present. But actually speaking, this gap is the impact of the absences of proper guidance and lack of training in cultural values. As the younger generation is moving away from the 'track', the relevance of this point has the highest priority.

The educational institutions are the authorized agencies in imparting formal education to a child. Character formation of a child should also take place there at the very beginning itself. A child can become proficient in any subject he likes even without attending class-room teaching, provided efficient and sufficient private coaching in the area chosen is imparted to him. But character building is highly impossible, useless an ideal educational atmosphere is created to the child. The main purpose therefore, of a school is not just to impart knowledge on different formal subjects but to impart 'good' values in all respect.
"If there is nobility in heart, there will be beauty in character, if there is beauty in character, there will be harmony at home, if there is harmony at home there will be order in the nation, if there is order in the nation, there will be peace in the world" -- thus says a Chinese proverb. It is a fact that creating a peaceful world is possible and to cherish the purpose of undergoing education, we undoubtedly deserve a sudden and unavoidable alternation.
